The Assyrian Democrats of the Bay area is a grassroots progressive political organization that was chartered and accredited by the Santa Clara Democratic Party in July 2021. As we get closer to our anniversary and ahead of the June 7th, 2022 Statewide Direct Primary Election, we are proud to endorse Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, the only member of the United States Congress of Assyrian ancestry. 

Congresswoman Anna Eshoo serves as a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and she is Chair of the House Subcommittee on Health. Rep. Anna Eshoo is the first woman in the history of the United States Congress to serve in this influential leadership role.

In addition, Anna Eshoo is the senior-most member of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology.  She is the author of over 50 bills signed into law. Prior to her election to the U.S. House of Representatives, she was elected to and served on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors for ten years. 

Anna is a first-generation American whose parents fled their homelands for freedom from religious and ethnic persecution, and for the promise of America. They instilled in Anna a deep love and respect for America, our Constitution, and our democratic ideals of equality and justice for all.  

Today, our democracy, the rule of law, and America’s democratic ideals are under assault. Anna Eshoo is running to protect our democracy, help heal our nation, strengthen our economy, defend our rights, fight for access to health care and protect the environment.  

Representation matters and Assyrian Democrats of the Bay Area are hoping more members of our community will get involved in national, state, and local politics and be elected to political offices. This is what our organization strives for.
